Debby Ryan gets her glam on in these new shots from the May 2011 issue of Paper magazine.
The 17-year-old actress dished to the mag about some of her favorite moments with Bailey on The Suite Life on Deck.
“In the Rome episode, Bailey pretended to be the pop star named ‘Naomi Wyoming.’ I got to improvise a lot of the banter with Phill Lewis, who plays Mr. Moseby. I look up to him so much as a comedian, and I think I grew a lot through experiences like that,” she says.
As she switches from a cruise ship to a high-rise, Debby shared that she’s watching a lot of other sitcoms to prepare for Jessie. “Friends, Laverne & Shirley, Family Matters. I’m watching a lot of The Nanny right now, even though it’s a very different balance. For Jessie, she grew up in a military family, so I’m watching a lot of strong female characters, and she’s taking care of these kids, so I’m studying things like Step By Step.”
Debby Ryan recorded the following video message for her fans in order to thank them for tuning in and supporting her Disney Channel Original Series “The Suite Life On Deck.” The show is officially over, with the final episode leaving a number of things open for fans to dream up what could have happened to the characters in the show.
But don’t worry – in the video, Debby promises that “The Suite Life On Deck” will continue to run on the Disney Channel, even though there won’t be any new episodes. Also, the show will become available on DVD in the future!

It was so amazing to be a part of the Suite Life on Deck during such monumental years of my life. Thank you guys for all of the support on the series, and I’m excited to share with you my next stage: Jessie.”
Debby also promises in the video towards the end, “I promise you, we’ll [Disney] will still be playing it in re-runs until you guys are dead sick of it. And then you can totally get it on DVD (laughs).”

All good voyages must come to an end, and with The Suite Life on Deck nearing the finale, we asked Debby Ryan more on what we’re going to see!
Fanlala: What can everyone expect from “Graduation on Deck?”
Debby Ryan: I think that people can expect a little suspense, some drama, and there are a lot of loose ends that are tied up. But there are also some things that are left to you to guess how things really do end up.
DR: Yes, I kept really memorable outfits from Bailey’s moments. I actually have the outfit when Bailey snuck on the boat as a guy, I have her bridesmaid dress from Maddy’s wedding to the random little prince, and some everyday outfits as well.
F: What was the mood on set during the last day of taping?
DR: It was bittersweet; it was definitely really hard. We had scenes that needed to be filmed, and we are a very professional cast and crew, but we were all very aware of the fact that it was ending and no one really wanted to be the one to say it. Towards the last couple of days, we all tried talking about it as much as we could to get it out of our systems. It was bizarre, amazing and sad. It was heartbreaking and uplifting.
F: What’s one of the best memories from shooting the show that you will take on with you throughout your career?
DR: I think singing on the stage as Bailey. It’s really inspirational to know that Bailey doesn’t have previous singing experience; she just sat and wrote this with her little guitar about her experiences traveling the world. The fact that she gets up on stage at the beauty pageant and decides to sing was really inspiring. Bailey didn’t become a singer, and she didn’t want to become a singer, but she did want to sing a song, and she did. That was really inspirational to me.
F: How do you think audiences will react to the last episode?
DR: I think that people will be inspired. A lot of the feedback I’ve been getting on Twitter is, “Oh, now my childhood is gone,” but really, this helps you grow to the next stage. You’ll always have Zack and Cody, just pop in a DVD to see the kind of things that they went through. Ultimately we’re all growing and I think that that gives people permission to do that in their own mind.
Our thanks to Debby for answering our questions! Tune into “Graduation on Deck” on Friday, May 6 on Disney Channel!
