18530ac2eabeab9c55c00edf595bfaf1 Selena Gomez: Teen Vogues June Cover Girl!

Selena Gomez blasts some tunes from her stereo in this outtake from the June/July 2011 issue of Teen Vogue.

The 18-year-old actress chatted with the mag about how the paparazzi can be frustating, the love of her fans, and broken hearts. Check it:

Don’t Mess With Her Fans: “A lot of times, the paparazzi will try to use them. They’ll say, ‘Your fans want this.’ And it’s frustrating because my fans are amazing: They love me, they support me. And I do everything for them. But the press? They don’t care about me. They just want something on me that they can use. They just want to get that shot.”

A Love Story in the Making: “When your heart is broken, you want to hate everything. You want to say, ‘I don’t believe in love; this is ridiculous. It’s not supposed to hurt this much.’ But at this moment in my life, I’m at a point where I want to be in love, to give my all and fall head over heels. I’m eighteen. I’m not going to marry anybody I’m with, and I know that. The next heartbreak I have, I’m sure I’ll be like, ‘How can I live without this person?’ But I’m still trying to dive in and enjoy it.”

Graduating from Disney Academy: “It’s like starting over. I was trying to explain it to one of my friends, and he said, ‘You’ll be fine. People believe in you.’ But when they’re putting together a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, I don’t think they’re going to go, ‘Selena Gomez would be great for this!’ I’m not an option. It’s humbling, having to go from this Disney high back down to having to fight for roles.”

Though former besties Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato’s close friendship unraveled long before Demi’s mental health problems exploded onto the media in a very public trip to treatment and her subsequent disclosure that she suffers from bipolar disorder, it seems like there’s no love lost between the two Disney queens.

In an exclusive interview with Seventeen, Selena Gomez finally comments on her longtime friend and her very public struggles.

“There’s an amount of love that can never – no matter what – be taken away or torn apart, no matter the situation. There are certain people who you will always, always love, so if anything, this just reminded me of how much I truly love [Demi],” she comments.

It seems the two starlets are quickly getting their friendship on track, with both Demi & Selena tweeting a playful picture of themselves together this past March 25, notably taken after Lovato left treatment.

Selena Gomez might be dating Justin Bieber, the guy every girl obsesses over, but she still has other crushes too. That’s the great thing about her: she’s growing up and is getting to know herself, but she’s not totally abandoning the girl you fell in love with on Wizards either.

Today, the 18-year-old actress is finding a fierce independence that’s helping her trade the TV life for major movie star status, in July’s Monte Carlo. But more importantly, she’s finding peace in her relationships—including her friendship with Demi—and is opening herself up to the possibility of real love. Seventeen sat down with Selena to talk love, life, and of course, Justin.

17: Your movie, Monte Carlo, is all about growing up and moving on—graduating and taking this first major trip alone. Do you feel as free as Grace is?

SG: Yeah, I’ve definitely gained a lot of that recently. I went on vacation over New Year’s with a bunch of my friends, for the first time, without my parents. That was so much fun. I feel like I’m in a place where I’m on my own a little bit. It’s nice.

17: Traveling with friends is definitely a major milestone. Who would you want to take with you on a trip to Paris (or Monte Carlo)?

SG: I’d love to go on vacation with Taylor [Swift]. I’ve been able to fly to Nashville to see her, and she’ll come to LA a lot, but it’d be nice to get away. It would be really fun. I’ve known Taylor for over three years now, so we’re at the point where we just get each other.

17: Is she your best friend?

SG: I’ve gotten to the point where the label of “best friend” is so ridiculous. If you have three people in your life that you can trust, you can consider yourself the luckiest person in the whole world. I have a lot of wonderful people in my life—probably five, collectively—who I can tell everything to. There’s Jennifer [Stone], my friend Ashley, and Taylor, and my two cousins.

17: Has it always been easy for you with friends? Or have you ever had a friendship fall apart?

SG: Yes. You reflect on the people who used to be in your life, and it’s like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe that person was ever really in my life.’ But people are put into your life for seasons, for different reasons, and to teach you lessons. You’re growing and changing, and eventually, you can go from having all these friends to feeling like you have no one, because you’ve been betrayed, or you’ve gone through things. But in this moment, I’m in such a good place with my friends. I feel confident and I’m happy there are people who I can truly trust in my life.

17: And if a person does betray you, do you ever give second chances?

SG: I believe in second chances, but I don’t believe in third or fourth chances. I love talking through things, and I always want to make things work, if I really love someone, but eventually, if they can’t fix whatever is wrong, or if they’ve done something and then they continue to do it, they’re probably not going to change for anybody. You can’t change a person. Jennifer Stone has told me a thousand times: “You want to be friends with people who double you, not cut you in half.”

17: As far as friends who change, or go through something, you obviously went through that with Demi. Are you two still close?

SG: Yes, of course. There’s an amount of love that can never—no matter what—be taken away or torn apart, no matter the situation. There are certain people who you will always, always love, so if anything, this just reminded me of how much I truly love her.

17: It’s so nice to be able to open yourself up to love that way. Do you feel like you’ve ever been in love before?

SG: I don’t know. I maybe had a first love and had my heart broken, but reflecting on it, I don’t think that was love. I think that was just me being fifteen and going, “Oh my gosh! I know I’m in love. I’m going to marry him.” So I don’t think that was love. I think as I’m getting older and having more in-depth relationships, maybe I’ll experience it. At the moment, I don’t know, exactly, if I’ve been in love.

17: But when you did feel like you were in love, how did you deal when it ended?

SG: I’ve very emotional. When I went through my first breakup, I thought it was the end of the world, and I thought I was going to die if I didn’t have him in my life. It was good to cry it out, and just scream, or call my friends in the middle of the night crying. You can’t shut down, you can’t say, ‘What can I do to make this go away?’. You have to let it be painful and get through it. Every day gets better. Because when you’re in love, you kind of give everything and make that person your life. So every day you get more and more of yourself back, and it feels better.

17: You’ve been very private with your relationships in the past, but with Justin, you’ve been more open—you even coordinated Oscars outfits.

SG: I know. That was our prom.

17: Was there a corsage involved?

SG: No, but there should have been!

17: Is there a reason you’ve decided to be more open this time around, with Justin?

SG: I don’t like hiding. I do like to keep certain things to myself, but at the end of the day, I’m eighteen, and I’m going to fall in love. I’m going to hang out with people, and I’m going to explore myself, and I’m okay with that.

17: Since you are more open, you’ve obviously been through a tough time with Justin’s fans. Do you remember being younger, and being a fan with a crush?

SG: Are you kidding me? I’m still thinking Zac Efron’s my husband.

17: Well we hear he’s on the market…

SG: No. I wouldn’t touch that. I love Vanessa [Hudgens] way too much.

17: Do you have anything you wish you could say to Justin’s fans now?

SG: I do see the passion that a lot of these girls have, and it’s beautiful. I love it. I really do. It’s special.

This is really exciting news! Good luck, David!

Now that Lionsgate and Hunger Games director Gary Ross have the role of Katniss Everdeen all sewn up in the form of Jennifer Lawrence, the next task is casting the role of the male love interest, Peeta, plus Gale, the third point of a possible love triangle. Testing is taking place today, with some of Hollywood’s hottest rising actors in the mix.

The story is set in a future America which is divided into 12 poor districts that serve a wealthy Capitol territory. Once a year, each district submits a girl and boy as tributes to participate in life-or-death games. Sixteen-year old Katniss is the girl who volunteers to take the place of her sister; Peeta is a boy from Katniss’ town also selected for the games who, during the opening ceremony, reveals his unrequited love for her. Katniss spends the rest of the story unsure whether the move was a survival ploy or a true act. The Gale character teaches Katniss the way of the hunter and plays a bigger role in the subsequent trilogy.

Testing for the Peeta role is taking place today and, according to insiders, here are the contenders:

Josh Hutcherson: A Hollywood vet at 18 years old, he starred with Brendan Fraser in Journey to the Center of the Earth and toplines the sequel later this year. He established indie cred last year by appearing in the critical hit The Kids Are All Right. (ICM, The Beddingfield Company)

Alexander Ludwig: the 19-year old Canadian starred in 2009′s Escape to Witch Mountain as well as 2007′s The Seeker: The Dark is Rising. (ICM)

Hunter Parrish: the 23-year old starred in Broadway’s Tony-winning musical Spring Awakening and now is one of the stars of Showtime’s Weeds. (WME, Management 360)

Lukas Till: The 20-year old is having quite a year: He is currently on screen in Battle: Los Angeles and plays Havok in May’s X-Men: First Class. (APA, Luber Roklin Entertainment)

Evan Peters: The 24-year old may be best known to the geek-set for playing one of Aaron Johnson’s best friends in Kick-Ass. He recurred on a recent season of One Tree Hill and has been working plenty in TV, with recent credits including The Office, The Mentalist and Parenthood. (Gersh, Luber Rokin Entertainment)

For Gale, sources say the list includes, but is not limited to:

Liam Hemsworth, who is best known for starring opposite Miley Cyrus in The Last Song.

David Henrie: One of the stars of Wizards of Waverly Place and a regular on How I Met Your Mother. Set to star in the CBS pilot for The Assistants.

Robbie Amell starred as Fred in the recent straight-to-DVD Scooby Doo! movies and was one of the stars of Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP.

Drew Roy, a Disney Channel and ABC Family actor (Hannah Montana, Greek) who is one of the stars of TNT’s high-profile sci-fi series Falling Skies.

miley7 Miley Talks About HM And Boyfriends

Hannah Montana is coming to an end and Miley Cyrus definitely sounds relieved. We have heard her say that she plans on burning one of her wigs (one will go in a museum) and she told Parade this means the end to wearing pink and glitter.

“I’m going to rejoice and be happy to finally not have to be…well, to not be somebody I’m not exactly,” Miley told Parade magazine “As I’ve grown into it, I’ve grown out of it. Does that make sense? When I was 12, I thought, ‘I want to be famous all the time! I want everybody to recognize me!’”

She went on to say, “Now I just want to be chill and have my private life. When they’re putting me in sparkles and in pink this final season, I have to grit my teeth. I can’t breathe looking like that anymore. A friend came by the set one day and said, ‘You don’t look very happy.’ I said, ‘I’m feeling claustrophobic in all these frills.’ ”

Miley also opened up about Liam Hemsworth, Justin Gaston and Nick Jonas.

“He’s ]Liam] my first serious boyfriend,” she revealed.

“Nick and I were so young,” the teen said. “We really did have a genuine love, but it wasn’t like this. We met when I was 12. I didn’t know who I was. I know who I am now and am so content and full of purpose.”

He was a good person, so carefree. All I know is that I am so happy right now. I wasn’t last summer after I called it off with Justin and went away to film ‘The Last Song.’ I cried all the way there. The last thing I was expecting to do was to fall in love,” she said. “I went there thinking the summer was about me and getting focused on my career. But I guess God was like, ‘Girl, here is this amazing guy.’ ”

Miley seems happy and confident with the direction her career is headed, as well as her love life.
