LONDON – Selena Gomez wants to be a part of the Harry Potter series.

She said: “It would be awesome (to have a cameo).

“I think the special effects in that are amazing.”

The star has just signed up for a lead role in Monte Carlo, opposite Nicole Kidman, reports The Sun.

“We start shooting in two weeks,” said Selena.

“But I’ve already met Nicole. She’s very sweet and I’m completely honoured to work with her.” (ANI)

Selena Gomez has been speaking about the pressure of being a teen icon.

Following in the footsteps of Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato, 17-year-old Selena is the latest tween sensation from Disney and whilst she understands that children may look up to her, Selena said she can only be herself:

“I try and be the best person I can be, but I am not perfect. I am going to make mistakes. I just try and keep those mistakes to myself,” said the star.

Like Miley, Selena has numerous projects on the go at once. She currently has her own TV series called The Wizards of Waverly Place, a debut album and a movie with Nicole Kidman in the pipeline.

She has also made the papers due to relationship rumours with Nick Jonas and more recently, Twilight star Taylor Lautner. But Selena says she understands the press intrusion is just part of her job:

“I do not think you ever get used to people talking about you – or at least I won’t. I just try and understand it comes with the territory and focus on the positive things,” said the teenager.

Selena is currently in London to launch a Wizard’s of Waverly fashion range for Asda.

After taking home the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite TV Actress Saturday night and landing a top many of the weekend’s best dressed lists for the sunny yellow Christian Cota frock she wore to the event, the young starlet wasted no time boarding a flight for Spain to promote her first album, Kiss & Tell.

Between press events and autograph signings on Tuesday, Gomez somehow found the time to announce a new venture with KMart in which the young fashionista has designed an affordable juniors line that will debut this July.

The line, titled Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez, is scheduled to hits racks in time for back-to-school shopping on July 15– just 8 days before her new family comedy, Ramona and Beezus, is scheduled to debut on the big screen on the 23rd.

With her first single, Naturally, getting plenty of play-time on the airwaves back home, the busy Disney star is scheduled to return to U.S. within the next several days to begin filming alongside Nicole Kidman in the new comedy Monte Carlo.

The young starlet got a chance to meet her Oscar winning costar before filming and told In Touch, “Nicole is the coolest person ever, and very sweet. So I was very happy [to meet her]!”

Between filming on the set of her award winning Disney series Wizards of Waverly Place, a second album in the works and several scheduled musical performances at summer festivals, the actress and singer shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
