Debby Ryan gets ready to take over the airwaves in this new still from Radio Rebel.
In the upcoming DCOM, the 18-year-old actress plays Tara Adams, an introverted high school junior who can’t bring herself to speak in class — and especially when the newly-popular rocker, Gavin (Adam DiMarco), is in her midst. Tara can’t imagine anything more intimidating than when her drama teacher teams her in class with Gavin and his prom date, the school’s cliquish queen bee, Stacy (Merritt Patterson).
Her shyness at school notwithstanding, alone in her room at home, Tara casts herself as Radio Rebel and, as host of a nightly podcast, showcases her passion for music and self-expression and her message to abandon cliques and celebrate each other’s differences.
Radio Rebel quickly gains fans on campus — especially when her show lands on a big, local radio station — much to the chagrin of the school’s principal who considers Radio Rebel and her message to be in clear defiance of the school’s “anti-distraction policy.” Meanwhile, Gavin raves about the mysterious host and her taste in music but still, shy Tara – now oddly jealous of her alter-ego – can barely finish a sentence in front of him.
As students clamor to learn the identity of Radio Rebel and the show’s popularity extends across Seattle, Tara’s two worlds begin to collide, reaching an apex when Radio Rebel is nominated prom-queen and the school, in turn, bans prom, causing a backlash from her fans. Now, Tara wrestles with two even bolder moves — organizing an alternative to the prom and revealing that she is Radio Rebel.
Radio Rebel will premiere Friday, February 17th @ 8PM ET/PT on Disney Channel.

Pop star also donates $100,000 to Las Vegas elementary school with help of ‘Ellen’ show.

Justin Bieber was enlisted by Ellen DeGeneres to help give back to Whitney Elementary, a Las Vegas school that helps underprivileged children. And in addition to donating $100,000 and $100,000 worth of toys, the always-charitable singer performed for the room full of Beliebers.

Bieber even answered some burning questions about his hair, his favorite color and his rise to fame. But, perhaps it was his response about his lady love, Selena Gomez, that had the room most giggly.
"What do me and Selena do on the weekends?" he pondered to the room full of school kids. "We go to the movies. And we kiss," he whispered, later laughing, "No, we don't do that."
He answered a number of other of the kids' inquiries in a rather quick-fire round. "Do I miss home? Yes, very much," he said. "Cause I'm always traveling and I'm always away from a lot of my family and friends. So, it can be hard. But, once I get to go home and see my family, it's always a pleasure."
Before leaving, he had these words of wisdom for the kids: "Be nice to each other and treat each other with respect and grow up to be people of character."
The episode aired Wednesday and when he chatted with the school's principal, Sherrie Gahn, he opened up about his own struggles growing up in Canada. "I'm here to bring a smile to these kids' faces. For me, I grew up and I didn't have a lot. We went to food banks to get food for me and my grandparents. Really, if I didn't have my grandparents to help me and these kids they have you to help them," he said. "And it's really special."

A new Disney Channel Original Movie called “Shrinking Violet” is currently filming in Vancouver, Canada. The movie stars Debby Ryan, but aside from that we don’t know much else.
There have been reports that the movie is about a girl who is shy in school but she’s able to be herself as an anonymous DJ on a radio show. However when there is a radio contest and the winner will get a date with her, she doesn’t know what she’ll do since none of her classmates know the radio host is her!
Although, Debby Ryan Tweeted about the details above saying they weren’t entirely true:
Alright guys, I gotta tell you!! I’m doing a new TV movie & I can’t wait to tell you the details. A BIT of the leaked info about the movie is true, but most names, details, & plot points are quite incorrect. can’t wait to set it straight!
We’ll let you know when we know more ourselves!

Teen phenomenon Selena Gomez has taken Hollywood by storm, generating legions of devoted fans and an exploding career in music and film. The E! Entertainment Special: Selena Gomez explores the life of this 19-year old beauty from her early days in Texas through her first acting auditions to the mega-success she enjoys today. Gomez opens up to E! about her life so far, including what it was like to be bullied in school, her relationship with BFF Demi Lovato, and her thoughts on dating a fellow superstar. Helping to tell Selena’s story are brand-new interviews with her mother, father, step-father, good friend Taylor Swift and many others. The most intimate portrait to date of this budding A-lister, the E! Entertainment Special: Selena Gomez premieres on June 29th at 10:00 PM ET/PT only on E!
SELECT QUOTES FROM THE SPECIAL INCLUDE:
Selena on her parent’s divorce: “I wanted a family so bad. I wanted to have my dad and my mom together. So it was really, it was really hard,” her mother Mandy Teefey adds, “It was very hard for her. And, she didn’t understand. You know, it was like destroying her family. All we could do is just say, ‘I’m sorry, but you will understand one day.’” Selena goes on to say, “My mom was the best. She was, really, she was everything.”
Selena’s cousin, Pricilla De Leon, on the actress being teased at school – “We had some really mean girls in our school and they would just be like ‘oh she’s on Barney, she’s a big baby’ and just tease her,”
Selena on being a role model: “I never really said I want to be a role model. But then when it happened I was so down for it. Once I realized that I’d have a little girl come to [me] and say she wants to be just like [me]. It [is] beautiful and I accept it. I’m human, I’m not perfect. I make mistakes all the time, but I guess my job is to keep those mistakes to myself, which I’m already fine doing and just try to be the best I can be for those kids.”
Selena on fame: “This is a very superficial job. I sit in a chair for two hours and get hair and makeup done and talk about [myself] in interviews. That’s a very vain thing to do. And I do get caught up in it sometimes. I do.”
Good friend Taylor Swift on the time she and Selena went to the University of Notre Dame to visit Taylor’s brother: “So we fly to Notre Dame and decide we’re gonna fit in. We went and we got all this Notre Dame gear so we’re like wearing the Notre Dame jacket and the Notre Dame visor and we learned that’s not how you fit in at college evidently. As we were walking around masses of people ended up following us. And yes they had to call security but it’s all we have that’s close to a normal college experience.”
The E! Entertainment Special: Selena Gomez premieres on June 29th, 2011 at 10:00 PM, ET/PT.

Demi Lovato bottled up her feelings while being bullied until she begged her mom to take her out of school, she has revealed. The Camp Rock actress talked about her experiences in the hope of helping younger Disney fans who might be going through similar problems:
Bullying is something I went through when I was 12 years old, I actually ended up leaving school because of it. I just remember the hard times that I went through that caused problems that I struggle with every day to this day, I was bottling it up 100% and one day I was in a bathroom and the lights were out, I couldn’t turn them on because you had to have a key in a separate part of the school, and I just called my mom and I was crying and I said ‘I don’t want to go to school any more’ and instead of pulling me out 100% she started home schooling me. It was a rough time, I was by myself.
After working with her mom to find a solution, the Sonny With a Chance actress then ended up making friends with a young actress who went on to become the star of Wizards of Waverly Place.
I actually home schooled with Selena Gomez so she was a good friend to me then and she still is. If I can be an inspiration to say ‘hey you can get through it’, that’s all I want to be.
